2010 Buy Right policy signing

Goal 4 - Pass the Buy Right Policy

The Buy Right Policy will commit the university to moving towards purchasing that promotes human rights and reduces poverty in the long term. By ensuring this policy is passed you will make a difference that will last long after you’ve left.

Work with your steering group to get your university to formally adopt the policy. Use the termly meetings of your steering group to monitor progress towards meeting the policy’s demands.

The Buy Right Policy commits the university to:

  • Promoting sustainable development, Fairtrade and human rights throughout the supply chains of the products it uses

  • Setting up a formal steering group to monitor progress towards this goal

  • Joining the Worker Rights Consortium in order to build corporate accountability into the supply chains of its garments

You will find a sample policy on our resources page.
