Week of Action Against Sweatshops
Every year, students all over the country take part in People & Planet’s Week of Action Against Sweatshops. This year, it takes place from 21 to 27 November 2011.
Students protesting against sweatshops
Students on campuses across Britain will take part in actions to promote workers’ rights and fight for social justice.
This year, our central focus is to get universities to sign up to the Worker Rights Consortium. We will also continue to promote Fairtrade and other forms of ethical procurement.
You could…
Raise awareness of factory conditions with leaflets and petitions.
Do publicity stunts, like going naked.
Meet your Vice Chancellor to discuss human rights.
Take direct action. The lovely, legal, non-violent kind, obviously.
Demonstrate by taking to the streets or marching on campus.
If you’d like to book somebody from People & Planet to run a workshop, e-mail Lev.
Or you could run your own workshops. We have lots of tools and resources to help you make this happen. Our education page will give you specific presentations you can deliver at your university.
