We are currently recruiting…..

Migrants Rights Campaign Manager

This year our student network voted to campaign on the issue of migrants rights, making this, from mid 2016, one of our two core campaigns across the country. Now we are looking for someone with experience in campaigning for migrants rights to help us develop strategy, raise money and develop partnerships for the new campaign. It’s an exciting role for someone who wants to help build a powerful campaign which could last anything from three to ten years, and hopefully make a big difference to the political landscape for migrants. This campaign will be run by one of the largest and most active campaigning networks in the country. You will work with key activists from this network to develop the campaign.

This is a 2 days/week fixed term contract, ending 1 September 2016. However, we are hoping to secure further funding to staff the campaign for a longer period and for more than 2 days/week. If funding is secured and to fund a period that starts before the end of this contract, this opportunity will be first offered to the person in this post..

Contract: 2 days per week (14 hours per week)

Start date: 4th January 2016

Salary: £28,532 pro rated + 10% contribution to pension.

People & Planet particularly encourages applications from women, people from ethnic minority backgrounds, people with disabilities, people with dependents or caring responsibilities and other groups typically under-represented in campaigning organisations like ours. We are prepared to make reasonable adjustments to enable any candidate to show their suitability for a role within People & Planet. We are deeply committed to equality, diversity, liberation and social justice and we welcome applications from anyone who shares these values. We find that people with diverse perspectives and experiences improve and refresh the way People & Planet works and we welcome news ideas and ways of working. We’re a small, friendly team who work creatively and flexibly together to achieve our goals of empowering students to campaign for social and environmental justice. Many of us work part-time from our central Oxford office. Unlike most organisations, People & Planet does not have a CEO or Director. The staff team runs the organisation collaboratively with oversight from our Trustee board which is made up of a majority of elected students.

Volunteer roles

“People & Planet is a wonderful organisation - full of passion, commitment and enthusiasm - qualities that have come through in the work that we have done with People & Planet both as a funder and a collaborator on policy work. You often meet people and find that their first connection with campaigning work was as a member of a People & Planet or formerly a Third World First group. That is the organisation’s ultimate legacy; generations of people who are shamed by the problems that diminish our society and who say to themselves ‘this is unacceptable and I can do something about it.”
