The next climate talks look set to take place in Mexico in December 2010. It’s important to keep up the pressure for a decent global deal but we can’t wait around for the politicians to get their act together. That’s why campaigning on climate change in your school, college, university or as an individual is essential to start making the changes we want to see. By campaigning to reduce carbon emissions here at home, we’re showing the rest of the world it can be done and getting the UK’s house in order.
People & Planet’s campaigns do just that: pushing for schools, colleges and universities to Go Green, demanding RBS-Natwest Ditch Dirty Development and being part of the huge national coalition to Stop Climate Chaos.
No New Coal
Building a new dirty coal power station at Kingsnorth in Kent would completely undermine the UK’s targets on climate change and would mean we have no credibility at the on-going UNFCC climate talks.
Tell Ed Miliband what you will do if he commits us to years of high emissions and climate catastrophe by allowing new dirty coal power stations to be built in the UK.
Funding of fossil fuels projects
By bailing out RBS-Natwest, the Government are now directly funding the extraction of dirty fossil fuels and the push for new coal power stations.
People & Planet are taking the Government to court to stop them pouring public money into the projects and companies driving climate change. Tell them to stop funding dirty fossil fuel projects by signing our petition to clean up bailed-out banks.
Driving down UK carbon emissions
Commit to cutting your carbon emissions by 10% by 2010 and join thousands of individuals, schools, hospitals, businesses and organisations all actively helping to combat climate change by making simple changes to their lifestyles, homes and workplaces. Help to put pressure on the politicians to cut Britain’s emissions as quickly as the science demands.
