Redress Fashion Day of Action - 4 December 2008
Give Topshop An Early Christmas Present
Get involved with the Redress Fashion campaign in a national day of action on Thursday, 4 December by taking action at your local Topshop store. It’s time for Topshop to commit to improving worker’s rights and labour conditions in its supply chain.
Sweatshops aren’t a nice way to celebrate Christmas
The theme for this term’s national day of action is Christmas and the festive season.
Take action! Call on Topshop CEO Philip Green to have a heart and stop being a scrooge, present your local store with a Christmas wish list to end unethical trade; serenade Topshop customers with ‘sweatshop carols’ — the possibilities are endless! Where’s the Christmas cheer for Topshop’s workers?
Previous days of action have included hanging out Topshop’s dirty laundry and have coincided with Fairtrade Fortnight. Check out London P&P groups’ Climate Bill action last year for a great example of how to creatively use the Christmas theme!
Action planning
See our guide to taking action for tips on planning street actions, and the P&P Groups’ Guide will also be helpful for thinking about how to maximize your impact. Your local Regional Reps, Campaign Advocates and Media and Communications volunteers will be happy to help where they can.
A Thursday night will in many places also coincide with late-night shopping, to give you and your group more flexibility in planning your action. A single day of themed national action will really get Topshop’s and the media’s attention — a wave of actions at the start of the term have provided an excellent base on which to continue to build pressure on Topshop! If you live in London a central coordinated action is being planned for the next day 5 December. Contact us in the comment box below to find out more about this.
Do tell us what you’re doing so we can let other groups and interested people know about what’s going on in different parts of the country!
