Get involved

There are loads of ways for you to get more involved, whether you’ve been involved in campaigning at your school or college before or you’re new to People & Planet. Come along to one of our fascinating and friendly events, join a group or get fundraising.

Start a group

Group at 2009 Summer Campaigns Day
Start things rolling in your school or college! Set up a group and become part of a vibrant network of school, sixth form, college and university students taking action on poverty, human rights and the environment. Find out more in our step-by-step guide.

Or if you need something extra special to get going, why not ask your teacher to book a workshop? Our interactive sessions will get you thinking about global issues and how you can take action.

Events

Shared Planet

There’s no better way to find out more about People & Planet, get inspired, meet our amazing staff and friendly network than by coming along to our events. Shared Planet (10th - 11th November 2012, Sheffield Hallam University) is a weekend of speakers from all over the world, interactive workshops and parties. It’s your chance to learn more about global issues and find out how to take action.

You can also run events in your school or college too.

Go Green Week

Every year we hold Go Green Week, a national week of action on climate change.

You can join students across the country by hosting events and running activities to green your school or college and get people thinking about the transition to a low carbon future.

Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fortnight is also a great time to get involved and campaign on Fairtrade and global poverty. Fairtrade Fortnight 2013 will be held on 25 February - 10 March.

Why not promote awareness of Fairtrade through our Wear Fair campaign and also raise money for us at the same time?

Fundraising

Stewards at the 2008 Green Man festival

People & Planet is a small organisation led by students like you, which means that fundraising is really key for us to continue our work. Even a small amount of money really helps, so why not get baking, run a sponsored race, put on an ethical fashion show or organise a carbon speed dating event?
