If you have information about climate campaigning/campaigners in your area you would like posted here, please contact infocampaigncc.org or 02078339311.

The list below includes Campaign against Climate Change local groups and a variety of local organisations with a focus on climate change - as well as just highly motivated individuals who are very active on the issue. Details about transport to the National Climate March on December 6th, or meetings etc in the run-up to it, are in red.

If you are thinking about organising a coach to go to the demo you can find a Coach Organisers' Guide here.

Find a way of designing a Campaign against Climate Change banner for your local group to bring to the march here.

Details about campaigns to get the local council to adopt emissions reductions targets are in blue. If you know of a campaign like this in your area, or want to start one, contact us at infocampaigncc.org

If any of the contacts below are incorrect or out-of-date, please contact infocampaigncc.org

LONDON

The main CCC office in London can be contacted at infocampaigncc.org or 0207 833 9311 or try the mobile on 07903316331

CCC London meets monthly, though there are also various specialised sub-group meetings, extraordinary meetings etc.. Everyone who has signed up to the email list (eg through the Join/Donate page on the website) and has given us an adress in London or the Home Counties (Essex, Kent, Surrey, Herts, Beds, Bucks) should get email notification of the meetings - but if you are not getting this for some reason, let us know. Alternatively use the contacts above to find out about the next CCC London Meeting - or any of the extra meetings.

Though London functions largely as a single unit, there are also some smaller local groups within London (with plenty of overlap between the activities of the smaller local groups and the bigger London group) :

"News on Emission Reduction targets from Norwich and Norfolk

On Jan. 30th 2007, Norwich City Council passed a motion from the Green Party for year-on-year reductions in carbon emissions of 6%. This is to be assessed and reported to full Council annually as part of the budget cycle and to the Climate Change Panel on a regular basis for monitoring. Councillors have been encouraged to do a carbon footprint and publicise their score, and consider how they can set a public example to their constituents by reducing their footprint.
While, at Norfolk County Council, the Green Party group made an innovative budget proposal in February for a Climate Change Mitigation fund to be established with £2.4 million this year and over £5 million in future years – there was wide cross-party support for the concept at the Council budget debate. £5million was chosen as 1% of council budget – similar to 1% of GDP recommended by the Stern report.
This was not adopted at the time, but Cllr Andrew Boswell, who is also coordinator of the Norwich and Norfolk Campaign against Climate Change (N2C3), reports that Norfolk County Council is now creating a fund of ‘Invest to Save’ money (around £200,000) for improving energy efficiency in its own buildings following his budget suggestions. In the long term, it is hoped that this will be expanded across County Council properties, including schools, libraries and other offices.
Andrew Boswell has also chaired a working group for the influential Cabinet Scrutiny committee on improving the Council’s energy efficiency. It is reporting soon with a number of measures to improve energy efficiency, and council mangement and procurement for climate change. Norfolk County Council has also joined the Carbon Trust Local Authority Carbon Management programme. The Council has a draft target of 25% reduction of emissions over 5 years under this project."

Established in November 2006, PCAN is a local voluntary group concerned about the significant dangers posed by man-made climate change. Our primary aim is to ensure that the issue is tackled at a local level i.e. in Portsmouth, through education, mitigation and adaptation. We also believe that attitude and behaviour change at a local level can have a material influence on what happens nationally and globally. We are one of a growing number of local climate change groups and are part of the Stop Climate Chaos alliance.

PCAN is campaigning for:
Portsmouth (that's everyone!) to achieve an annual carbon emission reduction target of at least 3% per annum
The creation and ongoing measurement of a carbon footprint for Portsmouth
Portsmouth City Council establishing a strong and visible climate change strategy (including planning policy) in line with many other cities in the UK
Portsmouth City Council leading a publicity campaign on both carbon reduction and climate change adaptation in the City.
