Host needed!
The Forum needs a venue! If you willing to host P&P’s democratic event at your university or college in March 2009, please email Harry in the support office. Thanks!
Key info
The Forum is People & Planet’s annual democratic event - a weekend where P&P students from around the country come together and set the direction for our organisation and work.
Democracy is key to P&P principles and our grassroots network decide which campaigns are run. The Forum 08 saw students choose the direction of P&P by voting for Corporate Power to be the theme of a new campaign, launching September 2009.
Now it’s up to you to choose the campaign strands - that is, the specific areas you want the Corporate Power campaign to focus on when it launches. As such, next year’s Forum (March 2009) is set to be a key event in P&P’s campaigning history, where the new Corporate Power campaign will be chosen by you.
You can also submit a proposal for the Forum agenda to discuss and debate key issues to do with the People & Planet network.
Making Proposals
You can submit a general proposal or a proposal on Corporate Power - each has a different form.
Make a proposal for the Forum 2009 agenda by December 8. It could be about P&P finance and fundraising, present campaigns, group support, communications, democracy, network, other stuff or events. Have a look at some of last year’s proposals.
Get involved in the Corporate Power campaign by submitting a proposal by December 8. These will then be considered by the Management Committee who will draw out common themes and concerns and decide which go up for the vote at the Forum 2009.
Management Committee elections
- At the Forum, students also are elected to the Management Committee. The MC is 50% students and it oversees all the work of P&P. It approves the budgets, hires the director and makes sure the staff are working on the best projects to support your campaigning.
- Watch this space to stand for the MC!
