Key info
The Forum is People & Planet’s annual democratic event. It sees school, college and university students from across the UK meet to debate, discuss and decide on the direction of P&P’s work. Democracy is key to P&P principles and our grassroots network decide which campaigns are run.
This year The Forum was held at the University of Cardiff, 13 - 15 March 2009.
Forum Guide
Before participating groups read the Forum Guide. It contained the outlines of the new proposals and agenda items of the weekend, as well as key practical information about the event.
Huge decisions were made in March when the Forum took place in Cardiff: voting on the future of our campaigns, action planning and a great party! Just some of the decisions and sessions taking place included:
New Corporate Power Campaign
Last year students voted to run a new campaign on corporate power — Students decided exactly what this will be. Proposers battled for the votes of fellow students, presenting seven inspiring and very different campaign ideas.

Climate Change Campaigning
Our award-winning Go Green campaign has run for nearly six years and at the Forum you decided what the next stage is. The campaign has brought great successes, seeing huge improvements in the environmental performance of the Higher Education sector. But there are still lots of areas in which unis have failed to go green.
Big decisions were made on Ditch Dirty Development — our campaign on the financing of fossil fuel extraction - and the future priorities of this campaign.
Action planning for the RBS-Natwest AGM took place, a great opportunity to plan a collaborative national action with other P&P groups.

MC Elections
Every year students at the Forum are elected to the Management Committee.
The MC is at least 50% students and oversees all the work of P&P, making decisions on campaigns, budgets and how we operate as an organisation.
It approves the budgets, hires the director and makes sure the staff are working on the best projects to support your campaigning.
Apart from being smashing for your CV, the MC is an amazing opportunity to be at the centre of a leading campaigning organisation.
Nominations for the MC elections closed on 27 February.
