Summary of decision

For the past five years students running the Go Green universities campaign have been radically improving their universities’ environmental performance. But now lots of People & Planet groups have slam dunked the existing Go Green campaign demands, so students at The Forum needed to decide what new area of University eco-failures to address next.

Students were presented with the 2 different options on the table, presented by members of the Network.

They then split into 4 groups and did a SWOT analysis on both proposals. This meant that students could look a bit more strategically at each and tease out strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

Weaknesses of each proposal were identified then prioritised. Smaller groups then focussed on a threat and weakness each to discuss.

Then these weaknesses were discussed to come up with ways to address them. The aim of this section was to come up with ways to strengthen the proposals which may involve incorporating aspects of the other option. Amendments were taken then on the proposals, and if consensus wasn’t reached, voted upon.

The amended proposals were then fed back, then a whole group discussion, followed by a vote.
