How to fund P&P campaigns without diluting our campaigning

forum logo

Session purpose

  • To support groups who wish to raise funds for P&P, but who don’t want to divert valuable time away from campaigning.
  • To help groups plan a fundraising event that can increase their campaign impact.
  • To highlight the importance of the student network helping P&P raise vital funds.

Background info

It is hard for us to find grants to pay for our more radical campaigns, such as Corporate Power. Therefore it’s really important for the network to help raise funds that we can spend in that way.

The money the network raise is ‘unrestricted’, meaning it can be spent on the most needy and/or radical projects. It is vital to us preserving our independence.

Many P&Pers say that they don’t have time to spend on fundraising when their campaigning is so important. Yet without fundraising, P&P would not have powerful campaigns for students to run.

This session will explore how campaigning and fundraising go hand in hand and how to maximise the campaign impact of fundraising events.

  1. Why do you think it’s important for your group to help with fundraising?
  2. Have you found you’re so busy campaigning that you don’t have time to fundraise?
  3. How can campaigning and fundraising be done together?
