Giving students a voice is what People & Planet is all about.

That doesn’t just apply to campaigning, it means having a say in how the organisation itself is run. This year there are some big questions to discuss about how effective our democratic structure and decision-making process really are. You will decide what we can do to make People & Planet more student-led and reinvent The Forum.

The Future of the Forum

This session will reinvent The Forum to make it a more inclusive, fun and effective way of making decisions. People & Planet has a beautiful, diverse network of groups at schools, colleges and universities and we want you all to have real say in our decisions. So students, staff and the MC (Management Committee) have put their thinking caps on and come up with some proposals of for improving this, like taking the Forum ‘on tour’ or moving it all online. We will debate these options and explore new ideas and decide the fate of The Forum. Download a write up of the future of the Forum discussion.

The future of People & Planet

This session will look at the legal and democratic structure of People & Planet. We will be looking for ways to make People & Planet more student-led by comparing to with the structures from other similar organisations. We will also be investigating exciting potential changes over the coming year. This session will not end in a vote, and any changes are likely to be dependent on various other factors. But it will be an important opportunity for you to feed in your ideas about the future of People & Planet. Ideas raised during this session will be taken to the MC meetings over the coming months.
