Why People & Planet should continue to campaign on climate change.
As a youth-led organisation, People & Planet has a duty to tackle the defining issue of our generation, which is climate change.
There is global consensus that rising greenhouse gas emissions are causing global warming and that this will impact on the planet’s ability to support life far into the 21st century, affecting the world’s poorest people first and hardest.
The failure of leaders in Copenhagen to secure a legally-binding global agreement to deal with climate change post-2012 puts the onus on us - as young people and global citizens - to act instead.
Unless we stop global warming and find solutions to climate change, the positive impacts of all previous and current other People & Planet’s campaigns will be limited.
People & Planet tackles the root causes of climate change in a unique way, bringing about awareness and solutions that wouldn’t exist without student involvement and action.
