People & Planet is a student-led campaigning organisation, we have a passionate commitment to democracy as part of our vision for a just world. Our grassroots network of student groups get involved in running the organisation as well as choosing and organising all our campaigns.
Student Activism Weekends
Students have decided that People & Planet’s democracy needs to be local and engage the whole network. So 2011 saw the launch of Student Activism Weekends in your area. These new events for campaign training, planning and decision-making are organised by student volunteers in six regions across the UK annually. They are your chance to take part in hatching plans for cutting edge campaigns, considering proposals from other groups and networking and meeting other People & Planet campaigners.

Your Management Committee
If the People & Planet network was a ship the Management Committee would be the crew that steers it through the high seas. They are a motley bunch made up of at least half students who are elected by you (in an annual online vote) to represent your views in decisions like how we spend money and how staff can best support your campaigning. The other half are non-students who bring expertise from organisations such as Oxfam and ActionAid.
You can stand for the Management Committee yourself. This is a highly responsible post, but also a massively exciting opportunity to work at heart of one of the UK’s leading campaigning organisations and a great way to break into the highly coveted NGO sector.
