Signing the Pledge
A great way to get your school on board, get some great publicity, and raise awareness for your campaign is to get your headteacher or principal to sign the Go Green Pledge.
Loads of you already did this last year, but for those of you who didn’t quite get there here’s a few tips to help you out!
Getting the Pledge Signed
- You’ll need to set up a meeting with your headteacher or principal to ask them to sign the pledge
- Make sure you stay polite, but assertive
- If they sign, find out what to do after the pledge
- If they refuse to sign, you can use our windmill petition to try and persuade them!
Launch the windmill petition
The People & Planet windmill petitions are a great way to show support for your campaign. Once people have signed the petitions you can cut out the windmills and create mini wind farms around your school or college! You can use these wind farms to:
Publicise your campaign
- Make sure you take loads of pictures of the petitions to show how much support you have
- You could get a story in the local press or your school newsletter
- Remember to send us your photos, and you might even see yourself on the People & Planet website!
Convince the Head
- Once your headteacher or principal sees how much support you have, they’ll be much more likely to sign the Go Green Pledge
- You could try and get the local press to report this as well - your head will want to look good for the media!
The pack has loads of Go Green windmill petitions already, but if you need more email us or download and print your own ones.
After the Pledge
- Make sure you thank your headteacher or principal for signing
- Let everyone in the school know that it’s happened - especially people who signed your petitions for you!
- let us know! and we can put you in our Go Green Hall of Fame!
