Go Green Actions |
- Launched the campaign by writing letters to both the VC and Head of Estates Department.
- Held a meeting with the Rector (Robin Harper) and the university’s Waste and Environmental Manager both of whom were very encouraging and supportive of the campaign.
- Organised a huge event called Abergreen which included loads of stalls from different environmental groups, film showings and a rubbish art contest. The starring entry was the group’s Can Dragon!
- Have been working to get space on campus for an organic garden and involved with the Veg Bag Scheme.
- Held a stall at Aberdeen’s Suss Out Sustainability Day along with info stalls from the Estates Department and other green and fairtrade groups.

Go Green Successes |
- The group has managed to secure new recycling bins and been promised a second set very soon.
- They passed a motion at the Student Association AGM calling for an environmental policy.
- The Abergreen Event was also a huge success which helped to raise awareness of environmental issues amongst students, and another one is planned for this term.
- The group have just received a reply from their Rector promising to set up a group responsible for progressing the university’s corporate social responsibility, including environmental and sustainability issues. The group will include both staff and students, and hopefully at least one member of Shared Planet Society!
