Why Fundraise for P&P?

People & Planet’s campaigns are widely accepted as being at the forefront of efforts against climate change and recognised for putting students at the heart of transforming our society into a truly sustainable one.

Yet despite the clear need for hardhitting campaigns like Going Greener and Ditch Dirty Development, finding the funds for radical campaigning is a challenge.

This is where you come in! With funds raised by P&Pers, People & Planet can plan long-term, effective campaigns, safe in the knowledge of a sustainable source of income. Money raised by students does not come with strings attached, allowing P&P to preserve its independence and commitment to being student-led.

That is why we are asking you to incorporate a fundraising action into your Go Green Week activities. If each group managed to raise just £100 we would have enough money to produce all our Going Greener campaign materials for next year or to ensure the Green League reaches more students and staff!

We’ve come up with the following ideas to help your group fundraise £100 for P&P, but feel free to come up with your own Going Greener-themed fundraising ideas.

50 people x £2 = £100 = simple!

  • Put on candle-lit dinner using local, sustainable food and charge for each course

  • Hold a low-carbon travel fair and ask local tour guides and hostels to donate prizes that you can raffle to raise money.

  • Hold a sponsored hitch

  • Ask for donations at your Swap Shops and Stitch & Bitch events

  • Put on a club night with a pedal-powered sound system and charge for entry or bring collecting tins or buckets and ask people to buy P&P a pint by donating a few pounds.

  • Have a cake sale- Bake organic cakes or cookies and dye them green to get them noticed!

  • Sell People & Planet T-shirts on your campaign stalls. We can send these to you on sale and return basis. Stylish, ethically traded and sweatshop free. To order some email us in the P&P office.

  • Do a green-themed sponsored bike ride, run, climb, hair or eyebrow shaving, hair dying-a-thon, bean bath…you name it someone will sponsor you for it. Check out loads of other ideas. Set up an online sponsorship page with Justgiving.
