Measuring Success

Degrees Cooler Surveys

Degrees Cooler logo

People & Planet hopes to prove that your Going Greener campaigns and projects can measurably improve student and staff behaviour and cut carbon emissions by 5% in a year.

At the beginning of the year we’ll be carrying out surveys with the NUS to find out how students feel about climate change and what environmentally-friendly actions they can take. Then follow-up surveys in the summer term will help us measure any shift in student and staff attitudes towards transition behaviours such as saving energy, eating less meat, recycling more and flying less. You’ll have access to the results which can help make your campaigns even more targetted and effective for your uni.

You can help by:

  • Promoting the surveys to staff & students by asking them to fill it in.
  • Sending the survey link around your group mailing list & Facebook group

Please contact us for more info on this process and what last year’s surveys revealed about your uni.

How else can you help?

  • Fill in your Term Reports and let us know what you’re up to throughout the year by emailing goinggreener@peopleandplanet.org
  • Keep track of the number of people who get involved in the events and practical projects you organise throughout the year
  • Send us copies of any online, student, local or national media coverage you get through your projects and campaigns.
  • Download a CO£2 Petition Form or circulate the link to our online petition to collect as many names and email addresses as possible at Going Greener events throughout the year.
  • Ideally, we’d like each group to sign up about 200 people to ensure we’ve got a good picture of current attitudes and actions across all 20 Degrees Cooler universities.
