Three other Degrees Cooler partner organisations will also be running activities alongside your Going Greener campaign:

Student Switch

Student Switch Off: An energy-saving competition between students in halls of residence at 38 universities. In past years, Student Switch Off has managed to reduce energy-use by 8.1% on average. Team up with them for Freshers Week, film screenings and Go Green Week. They’ll be on campus running climate change quizzes throughout the year too. If SSO are not already working on your campus why not ask your union to invite them.

Greener Living Assistants

Studentforce for Sustainability: Greener Living Assistants (GLAs) are recent graduates employed to provide support for Degrees Cooler and your group’s Going Greener projects throughout the year. They will act as a liaison between students and staff and have inside knowledge of the uni’s workings. Contact your uni’s GLA early on to get them engaged in your campaigns from the start! If you don’t have a GLA check if your uni employ sustainability interns.

Green Impact

Green Impact Universities: Green Impact Universities is a practical campus-based environmental awards scheme aimed at greening departments and staff through individual actions. Find out if your department is taking part and suggest working together on joint projects. Invite participating staff along to your Transition steering group.
