Green League 2012 Awards Ceremony
This June, People & Planet will host a special awards ceremony in Westminster to celebrate the efforts of the UK’s greenest universities. All First Class Award winners in the People & Planet Green League 2012 will be invited, along with the leading universities from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The event will be an opportunity to reflect on the Higher Education sector’s progress towards a sustainable future and celebrate the excellent initiatives of First Class Award winners up and down the UK.
A special guest will present the Awards and we’ll also hear from several speakers with unique perspectives on the sector’s transition to a low-carbon future.
When:
Thursday 21st June, 11am-1pm - put it in your diary. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
Where:
Atlee Suite, Portcullis House, Westminster
Who should come:
This event is for the Vice-Chancellors of the winning universities and their Sustainability teams.

This is a free event aimed at environmental managers, procurement managers, sustainability managers and Directors of Estates/Facilities. The aims of the event are to:
- Provide a space for feedback on and input into the development of criteria and processes for the People & Planet Green League 2012.
- Inform environmental managers and other stakeholders about plans for Green League 2012
- Consult stakeholders on potential new changes to methodology and criteria for 2012 and beyond.
- Form a Green League 2012 Oversight Group

Want to improve your sustainable food performance before next year’s People & Planet Green League?
- Are you struggling to engage catering staff in your institution’s sustainability agenda?
- Perhaps you’re a catering manager who’s suddenly been tasked with formulating a Sustainable Food policy but need some advice to get started?
- Struggling to find local suppliers at the right price?
Students are increasingly concerned with sustainability and food is a vital ingredient for achieving it. Universities and colleges are in a unique position to provide good quality, planet-friendly food to a receptive audience and reinforce a longer-term change in buying and eating habits.
Join People & Planet for the first in a series of Green League best practice seminars exploring the issue of Sustainable Food and showcasing the experiences of staff at pioneering universities. With speakers & workshops from the Soil Association and Sustain: the alliance for better food and farming, this event will provide you with everything you need to know to improve your institution’s performance on sustainable food.
