Open Space leads to Transition Vision
Students shared ideas for creating low-carbon Transition Universities during a Going Greener Open Space session held at People & Planet's Summer Gathering 2010.
Creating the Transition Universities Open Space agenda
Example of an Open Space agenda theme
Students have held their first ever Transition Universities Open Space session to share ideas around the Going Greener campaign. At People & Planet’s annual training event, individuals set the agenda themselves and grouped together to discuss project ideas and issues which they felt most passionate about.
The Going Greener Open Space produced a range of fresh tips and experience-sharing thanks to the flexible format. There were insightful discussions on a range of subjects including:
- how to discourage students from taking internal flights
- end-of-year student re-use projects and swap shops
- setting up a student food co-op
- how to localise universities
Get involved
Now is the time to turn these Open Space seeds into meaningful and successful action at your university. You can get involved by discussing, using or adding to the ideas from the Open Space on the Going Greener Facebook page
If you liked the Open Space session or missed out, check out the People & Planet Open Space guide to see how you can run one at your university. And don’t forget to come to Shared Planet 2010 in Birmingham on 6 - 7 November where there will be plenty more opportunities to learn from each other.
