Due to popular demand we are very excited to announce that Alys Fowler will be returning to Shared Planet to share her horticultural and environmental expertise.

Fowler writes a regular column in the Guardian on all things gardening and is also famous for presenting the BBC programme Gardeners World. Alongside her media work Alys also has a strong involvement in her local community and has set up community gardening projects in her home city of Birmingham; actively encouraging more people to grow their own fruit and veg.

Despite being busy with all these other projects Alys has also found the time to write a new book, The Thrifty Forager.

As part of our Going Greener campaign to promote Transition Food Alys will be leading a practical allotmenting workshop & foraging skillshare at this year’s Shared Planet on Sunday.

Shared Planet is the UK’s largest gathering of students taking action on climate change and human rights. Peter Tatchell will be part of two days of inspiring workshops, speakers and debates which will include Kenyan activist and former Amnesty International programme director Firoze Manji, prominent trade unionist Zita Holbourne, comedian Robin Ince, veteran campaigner Peter Tatchell as well as activists from around the globe.

We’ll be joined by First Nation Canadian tar sands campaigners, Dominican trade unionist Maritza Vargas and prominent NGOs such as World Development Movement and Jubilee Debt Campaign.
