Exciting line-up announced for Sustainable Futures Forum

Find out who is confirmed to attend the conference in Glasgow on 11-12 February!

With less than 3 weeks until the Sustainable Futures Forum in Glasgow on 11-12 February, the full line-up of workshops and speakers has been confirmed.

On Saturday 11, the day will start with an opening talk from Lauren King, winner of the Sheila McKechnie Environment campaigner of the year, about the Beaver Lake tar sands solidarity exchange and the Tar Sands-Free campaign.

University and college students from across Scotland will then have the chance to choose a from a packed programme including workshops on:

  • The Frack-Off Scotland campaign
  • Engaging people through film
  • Performance & protest
  • Creating free education spaces
  • COP-17 & Rio +20
  • Urban Survival skills
  • Innovative transition projects and Transition On Tour
  • Sustainable architecture & creativity for humanity
  • Building sustainable Networks using new media
  • Seed-bomb making and an introduction to permaculture
  • Green jobs & careers in sustainability
  • As well as People & Planet and NUS campaigns

The day will finish with open space for people to suggest sessions on their own questions or topics and a cycle-powered social with a cinema, music and time to chat and meet new people.

On Sunday 12 February, students will have the choice of attending the People & Planet Democracy event, where there will be an exciting opportunity to choose the next climate change campaign, or the highly sought-after Project Development & Communications Training with Joe Farthing of Transition Edinburgh University. The day will close when Justin Kenrick, a powerful speaker and academic, who joins us by live link up from Liberia to talk about ‘People, Planet and Power’.
