Sophie Mason from the Liverpool University P&P group reports:

Loads of other societies were doing things for World Aids Day in Liverpool, so we decided to do something fun the night before as a `launch´ event.

Weeks of planning went into organising a really successful band night, with four bands: Saint Sebastian, Swamp Fox, Tom Cartledge, and The 45s. We had a brilliant evening and raised £768.52!!

Last minute decorations included getting loads of ribbons to decorate the music stands and bar pumps. It was really helpful that the club allowed us to use the room for free, we got some posters printed cheaply through the university, and we knew some of the bands. Use whatever resources you have! We also held some stalls twice during the week to raise awareness about the issue and get some pill-card signatures. We had a furry red tablecloth, loads of free condoms, and on the Friday itself, some of us crazy kids turned up at 8.30 to blow up 100 red balloons to `paint the guild red´ with balloons and posters!
