Georgia Munnion of the Green Society at Rose Bruford College reports:
On Monday 16 April 2007, the Rose Bruford Green Society, in association with People & Planet, held a stall in order to promote our campaign for ‘Going Green’. We spent Sunday afternoon baking delicious ‘green’ cakes, which were offered in return for students signing a Fairtrade petition, collecting leaflets and being made aware of our ‘Go Green’ afternoon workshop.
Standing with four other members from the society in a new green t-shirt with our logo printed on the back, in front of our newly-made banner and behind a table covered in posters, cakes, leaflets, I observed the progress we have made over the last term.
We have embarked upon the ‘Go Green’ Campaign, believing it to be most beneficial Campaign for our college and its surrounding area, at the moment. In a college with 600 students, we have the opportunity to work closely with the student body and staff in order to achieve our aims, incorporating the various artistic talents each student possesses.
After a two-hour ‘Go Green’ workshop led by a member of People & Planet, the students who attended had further knowledge of how to move forward with our campaign and raise awareness within the College about important environmental issues.
We are committed to pursuing our Campaign with determination and seeing Rose Bruford develop into a ‘Green’ College.
