Going Bathnanas
Hayesfield School Ethical Group hit the streets of Bath to raise awareness of Fairtrade
Go bananas for Fairtrade!
Around ten students from Hayesfield School, Bath took the Fairtrade message to the people during Fairtrade Fortnight. They took up strategic positions around the town in the middle of the day when shoppers would be most likely to see them. The Podium Shopping Centre was the best place to start, before moving on to Kingsmead Square.
‘Freebies’ was the watchword of the day: from Fairtrade directories listing local suppliers to stickers, postcards and edible banana necklaces, the group certainly did a lot of good PR for Fairtrade. Although the weather wasn’t the brightest, the group stuck at it for a good couple of hours and finished with another local protest against Topshop for failing to sign up to the Ethical Trading Initiative.
