Green League 2008 shows unis are getting greener
People & Planet's Green League 2008 has been published. The Green League 2008 shows a remarkable improvement in environmental management and performance in the UK's Higher Education sector over the past year - with a 25% increase in the number of full-time environmental staff.
Gloucestershire, Plymouth and University of the West of England top the league. To find out where your uni came look at the Green League 2008 table.
The change in the sector has been driven by thousands of students who have been campaigning for greener campuses. Thanks to your determination the sector is finally starting to listen to student demands for greener campuses.
There is still a long way to go though. Universities now have the building blocks of sustainability in place but more action is needed - People & Planet want to see environmental standards driven up across the sector.
You don’t have to wait until next term to campaign with the Green League 2008. Why not email your Vice Chancellor or Principal now to let them know exactly what you think of your university’s result?
