New for 2009/10. Take Fairtrade to the next level

Have you got Fairtrade Status already?

Do you want to take on a new challenge at your school or college?

Are you wondering how to add further momentum to your campaign?

If you’re at school or college then get involved in the Wear Fair campaign

The school clothing market is worth £1 billion per year. Colleges buy tens of millions per year buying clothes for their sports teams, staff and vocational courses. But usually these garments are not Fairtrade cotton, and have often been produced by children, or by women barely older than you, for as low as 5p per hour for an 80 hour week.

Young people don’t want their schools and colleges to be full of clothes that make poor producers suffer. We need to tell our schools, colleges, high street shops and supermarkets to Wear Fair!

If you’re at University then get stuck into Buy Right, a campaign to tackle human rights abuses in the supply chains of everything our universities buy

The higher education sector spends £8 billion a year buying the goods that student and staff use day-to-day on campus. Often this money is spent on contracts with big companies who have appalling records of human rights abuses in their supply chains.

We have the tools at our universities to protect and respect human rights, in the global supply chains of the things we use every day. But it will take a new kind of campaign, one that allows students, universities and people in developing countries to join together in defence of human rights and sustainable development. The Buy Right campaign shows you how.
