Round One to students in the campaign against Kingsnorth

People & Planet students, PANDAs, elephants and climate campers found out last week that student actions at E.On's graduate recruitment fairs had caused E.On to cancel their recruitment tour!

E.On is the huge energy corporation which plans to build Kingsnorth, the first of six proposed new coal fired power stations in the UK, and the site of this summer’s Climate Camp. Their outrageous stalls, which boasted ‘Tackling climate change is at the heart of what we do’, were joined by leaflets, banners, fancy dress, flash mobs and bags of coal used to embarrass E.On and dissuade graduates from joining the company.

Robert from the People & Planet Associated Network for Direct Action (PANDA) said

E.On think they are safe, because most people don’t know they are the owners of Kingsnorth power station. These recruitment fairs have helped to out E.On as the biggest climate criminal in the UK. After all, as they themselves boast, climate change lies at the heart of everything they do.

Disappointed students who missed the chance to see E.On at their uni can now get excited for the 48 hours of action against E.On and new coal starting on 28 November. Stay tuned!
