Are we living in the Age of Stupid?
A new film looking at the terrible impacts of climate change is in cinemas now: find out how your group can get involved
Age of Stupid is a fantastic new film looking at the devastating impacts of climate change happening right now, but with a powerful twist.
Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite (In The Name of the Father, Brassed Off) stars as a man living alone in the devasted world of 2055, looking back at “archive” footage from 2007 and asking: why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance?
The film is really thought provoking and early audience reactions have been massively positive. It isn’t your usual dry, science-based discussion of the issues, but a really interesting look at real life examples of how climate change is impacting people now.
Age of Stupid is being released this weekend (20 March) and it’s important as many people as possible see the film. Check out where and when it’s on now.
How can your group get involved?
You and your group can capitalise on the massive impact Age of Stupid will have with cinema audiences, and get loads more people involved in climate campaigning. Use the film to boost members for your P&P group, raise awareness or even raise loads of lovely cash for P&P.
Commandeer a screening. Cinemas have agreed that local groups can put on talks, Question Times or simply publicise their group at screenings. You could do any of these to help your Go Green, Ditch Dirty Development or general climate change campaign. Even just a stall in the lobby after the screening can really get your message out there.
Publicise it far and wide. Get as many people along to the screenings as possible by leafleting, postering and spreading word. The more people that see the film, the longer it’ll be on so more people get the chance to see it, and get motivated to take action to stop climate chaos. The team at Age of Stupid have negotiated deals with cinemas across the country which you can use to help get people to come along.
Raise money for P&P. After a chat with the cinema (or a local Age of Stupid rep) you should be able to tin rattle outside the screening. You could also ask the cinema for a bit of the ticket price or a cut from the bar (maybe you guys are working for free?).
