Lib Dems back P&P fossil fuels campaign
The Liberal Democrats have backed the campaign to Ditch Dirty Development. Their party conference last week endorsed the campaign, and called for an end to public subsidies for some fossil fuels.

The Liberal Democrats have backed the People & Planet campaign to end pubic funding for the dirtiest kinds of fossil fuel extraction, including tar sands. Our Ditch Dirty Development campaign is calling for an end to public support for fossil fuel extraction, including through bailed-out bank RBS. RBS continues to fund climate changing projects and companies using public money - and the Treasury has so far done nothing to stop this.
The Liberal Democrats passed a motion on climate change which included the statement:
“Mandatory carbon reports on investments by all businesses and banks, and an end to taxpayer support for investments in high-polluting fuels like tar sands extraction”
