The action cards - P&P and WDM groups are collecting over 50,000 for Alistair Darling
People & Planet groups up and down the country are planning RBS action days this Go Green Week (February 8 - 12). During the national week of action on climate change, held in partnership with NUS, People & Planet groups hold film screenings, debates, stalls, fairs and clubnights. These all offer an excellent chance to get action cards signed.
The cards are part of the Ditch Dirty Development campaign and call on the Treasury to stop letting RBS use public money to fund fossil fuel extraction projects driving climate change, wars and human rights abuses round the world.
Laura Macfarlane-Shopes from Leeds University, said:
“An action day is a fantastic way to get cards to the treasury signed. You can go round the union cafe, or knock on doors in halls. You can talk to people in lectures to get them signed, and you can organise card signing competitions between group members, to see how many people they can get in an hour. Action cards are a really good way to engage with people about this crucial issue, and to show the treasury that people care.
