Week of Naked Action

On the week starting 1 March join a week of student action against sweatshops, as part of the Buy Right campaign

I'd rather go naked than wear sweatshop clothes

I’d rather go naked than wear sweatshop clothes

Take action to end exploitation in your university’s supply chain of clothing by calling on them to Buy Right, by joining the Worker Rights Consortium.

Universities and student unions spend tens of millions on clothing for their staff uniforms, sports teams and branded hoodies. Sadly, the people working for your university’s suppliers are often working under slave labour conditions, with no union, no healthcare, 80 hour working weeks and 5p an hour wages. That’s why we are calling for universities to bare all and uncover the factories that their suppliers use to the Worker Rights Consortium, a labour rights monitoring organisation set up by students.

The theme for the action is

I’d rather go naked than wear sweatshop clothes!

Erm… yes, it does encourage at least partial nudity, but bear with us, it doesn’t have to be your own!

Get your group, or even better, a sports team at your university to strip down to their smalls, and cover themselves in strategic places with boards calling for your university to join the Worker Rights Consortium!
