Sibford School Wear Fair for Sports Day
Sibford school’s People & Planet group have stormed ahead with the Wear Fair campaign for Fairtrade cotton, and have convinced the school to stock Fairtrade cotton t-shirts ready for their summer sports day.
Sibford School Crest
The school has planned to start their Big Swap by switching the t-shirts they’ll be wearing on sports day in June to Fairtrade cotton t-shirts, in all four house colours. This move, a result of the hard work of passionate students and staff at the school, is an early success for the national Wear Fair campaign which aims to get Fairtrade uniforms and sports kits in all schools and colleges by 2015.
Many other People & Planet groups are currently gathering support for the campaign in their schools and colleges by putting on Wear Fair fashion shows to show how available and stylish Fairtrade cotton fashion can be. Other events such as Unfair football matches and assemblies are planned - keep an eye on our pledges page and add your own pledge to make the Big Swap to Fairtrade cotton.
To follow Sibford’s lead and get your school to commit to Fairtrade cotton and start making the switch, arrange a meeting with your headteacher, governors or management staff and ask them to sign a Fairtrade cotton policy. Visit our change your school page for tips on how to go about doing this.
You may want to start by asking for Fairtrade sports day t-shirts or leavers’ hoodies, or go all the way and demand Fairtrade uniforms for the whole school! Whatever you do, let us know about it by emailing wearfair@peopleandplanet.org.
