Students at universities across the country will next week be asking their universities to ‘uncover’ their attitudes to protecting workers from sweatshop abuse. Join the Universities Uncovered Tweetathon
Universities and student unions are big buyers of clothes, from hoodies and sweatshirts, to staff uniforms, to sports kits.
Companies like Nike and Fruit of the Loom sell garments to universities. But how they treat their workers has been criticised. Issues such as: 80 hour weeks, physical and mental abuse, and stopping workers joining unions.
