People & Planet appoints a new Director
People & Planet is delighted to announce the appointment of Andy Egan as its new Director. Before joining People & Planet, Andy was manager of the Global School Partnerships Programme at the British Council.
People & Planet (previously Third World First) has been inspiring generations of student activists since 1970.
Andy has a wealth of experience in community education in the UK and in promoting global citizenship going back to the time when he was an active member of Third World First (People & Planet’s previous name) at university. In that sense his appointment is a fitting testament to our aim of inspiring generations of students to take action to protect the environment and challenge global poverty.
On his appointment, Andy said:
“I am delighted to be joining People & Planet, a unique student led organisation with a distinguished history of educating, mobilising and campaigning against global injustice and environmental destruction. I look forward to working with the student activists and staff to build on the strengths of current campaigns, to broaden engagement and to develop new initiatives.”
Andy will take over from Ian Leggett in mid-September to coincide with that start of the new academic year.
