The Forum 2010

The Forum 2010 took place on the 19-21 March at the Royal Veterinary College Camden.

Key Decisions

The Forum wasn’t short on big decisions and inspiring discussions about the best ways keep the People & Planet network changing the world with our campaigns. Here’s a quick summary of what was decided.

Campaign theme chosen

Climate crisis fought off tough competition from ‘questioning consumerism and HIV and AIDS to become the campaign theme for People & Planet for the next 5 years. After lively debate students decided climate change remains the most pressing issue of our generation and one which the network cannot ignore

New decision-making process

This was the last ever national Forum. Students decided to get rid of this national event in favour of getting back to our roots and making key decisions at regional events. So, next year decision-making could be coming a lot closer to home.

The future of People & Planet

Like many charities in the recession, People & Planet is facing financial difficulties. After hearing what this meant of our campaigns and our network, students had a chance to explore ideas to make People & Planet more sustainable in the long term such as becoming a cooperative or making the organisation student run as well as student led. This discussion will inform the Management Committee when they come to decided which options to investigate.
