Putting the ‘fun’ into ‘fundraiser’…
Just jump on a bike and cycle a really long way! Preferably in the direction of a uni that just happens to be hosting the UK’s largest student conference on world poverty, human rights and the environment…
It’s just like riding a bike…
Every year, an assortment of cycling enthusiasts, lunatics and other heroic fundraisers take on this two-wheeled challenge: getting sponsored to cycle to our legendary conference, Shared Planet. This time round you could be one of them!
By cycling to Shared Planet you will:
- get a free ticket to Shared Planet
- raise vital funds for People & Planet
- get a really good work out
- get that warm fuzzy feeling that comes from helping others (or maybe that’s just sweat?)
- and of course, massively cut your carbon emissions for the trip
Every penny you raise goes back into developing your campaigns and supporting People & Planet groups - that doesn’t sound too bad now, does it? Interested? Let us know and we’ll keep you up to date with the latest news on the cycle.

A condensed history of the Cycle…
2008 was the biggest year so far, with groups from Liverpool, Oxford, Cardiff, Brunel, Bangor and Imperial converging on Birmingham Uni raising a whooping £1,386.
2006 Emma and Sian cycled from Cardiff to London over 4 days and raised over £800. Matt cycled 230 miles in 4 days from Manchester to London raising £380!
2005 Bryn from UWE P&P set the wheels in motion when he came up with the novel idea of cycling Shared Planet, he cycled the 85 miles each way from Bristol to Oxford and raised £150. It soon caught on!
Make a BIG difference to People & Planet
Every year, our cyclists have an amazing time, and in 2008 they raised a jaw dropping £1,386 for People & Planet!
This money makes a massive difference: because it comes from our network, and not a big organisation, so there are no stings attached. It can be used where it is most needed. Also, because P&P is a small organisation, every little bit can go a long, long way.
You can cycle all or part of the way to take part. There’s also the chance to win back the cost of your Shared Planet ticket, for some of our biggest fundraisers!

The internet’s an amazing thing - the messy, scribbled-on, crumpled-up sponsor form can now be made a thing of the past. You can now do all your fundraising online by setting up a sponsorship page with justgiving.
