Shared Planet 2009 will be held at the University of Manchester . Here are some info to help you plan your route:
Don’t Get Lost!
Meet & Greet - there will be P&Pers at Manchester Piccadilly from 6.30-11.30pm on Fri 20 Nov waiting to guide you to Shared Planet.
Arriving on Friday evening- registration 8-11pm
Come along to register at the Barnes Wallis Building, North campus, University of Manchester’s Student Union There will be signs to direct you there, once you are nearby.
Arriving on Saturday morning- registration 9.30-10.30am
Come along to register at University Place otherwise known as the ‘Tin Can’ Again there will be signs when you are nearby.
By Train
The University of Manchester is located close to both Piccadilly main line station (about two and a half hours from London) and Oxford Road train station, with Victoria train station a little further away. If you are under 26 you can save up to a third on the cost of your ticket with a Young Persons Railcard. For the cheapest prices remember to book well in advance and bear in mind that booking two singles tickets is often cheaper than booking a standard return.
Cross Country rail discounts
Cross Country offer a new discount for students with their NUS Extra card.This offers 10% off CrossCountry Advance tickets on top of the usual 33% Railcard discount (if they have one). The earlier you book, the more likely it is that cheaper Advance tickets will be available for that CrossCountry journey. Cross Country also offer discount for groups of 8 or more.

By Coach
National Express coaches serve over 1,200 destinations across the UK from the Chorlton Street Coach Station, which is near Piccadilly main line station and a short walk from the Oxford Road Campus.
For the cheapest fares try looking at Megabus
By Car
If you’re coming to Shared Planet in a group, it might be easier and cheaper for you to hire a private coach or self-drive minibus.
If you do this and you have extra spaces then let us know. We’ll list all of the coaches and minibuses with space here so that event goers from the same area can lift-share, keeping costs and the carbon footprint of the event down!
By Bike
It’s become something of a tradition for some people to make their way to Shared Planet by bike. Get people to sponsor you for your efforts and if you raise more than £150 for People & Planet, then you can have your Shared Planet ticket for free! Check out the cycle pages for more details.
