Disabled Access
There will be full access to all conference and accommodation areas; there are lifts to upper floors and all buildings are wheelchair-friendly.
Ensuring that our building, services and holdings are accessible for all students and young people is important to us. We aim to create an environment that makes you feel welcome.
Children
If you are a parent/guardian we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Please let the Shared Planet team know if you need help organising child care at the event by email or by phone on 01865 245678.
School & College Students
If you’re a school or college student and you want to do one thing this year that will open your eyes and change your perspective - come to Shared Planet! We think its a life changing experience so we have made every possible provision to make it fun for you. There will be workshops that will cater for all levels of experience, separate sleeping arrangements and the school and college team will be on hand to help you plan your weekend. There will be loads of opportunities to network with people from schools and colleges across the country.

Teachers
Teachers are encouraged to attend Shared Planet whether of not they intend to bring a group of students. We cannot, however, provide separate accommodation. Teachers should be prepared to sleep on the floor space provided, either by their students or in the over-18’s area, or organise their own accommodation. Hostel and hotel rooms near the conference site vary between £17-30 ppn, try:
There will be staff on hand each morning to help teachers advise student on which session to attend, take student groups to conference venues and to coordinate school and college student-friendly activities at the party.

Health & Safety
Health and safety aspects of all facilities forming part of the conference weekend are assessed by our trained staff. All reasonable precautions are taken throughout the weekend including the constant access to First-Aiders and presence of stewards at all conference and accommodation venues. We have full public liability insurance.
Prayer Rooms
We will provide prayer rooms which you can use whenever needed – this will be a tranquil place where you can find space and use for whatever kind of prayer you want.
Eating
The University of Manchester are opening some of their restaurants and cafés for breakfast and lunch each day which will cater for different dietary requirements such as veggie, vegan, halal and kosher. The city also has a very cosmopolitan range of restaurants, cafés and diners and every variety of ethnic cuisine can be found within a short walk of the accommodation and conference venues.
We’ll provide a list of food venues in the conference guide with the options. There are cash points available close to all conference venues.
Drinking
A chill out area with pool tables and other activities which does not have a bar will be open to students on both nights.There will be licensed bars in the Friday and Saturday night venues, till 12pm on Friday and late on Saturday. We will also provide a guide to local bars, pubs and venues. Participants under 18 year old are welcome to come to the party and Friday night entertainment where a full range of soft drinks will be on offer as they will not be served alcohol.
Sleeping
We’ve arranged heaps of floor space in the state of the art Sugden Sports Centre at The University of Manchester. There will separate areas available for women and under 18’s. There are 69 hot showers, plenty of toilet facilities and you can leave your bags in the centre over the weekend. Remember you need to book (£3 per night) this and bring a sleeping bag, mat and pillow!
Baggage
Bags can be stored at Sudgen Sport Centre throughout the weekend. Please note that bags are left there entirely at the owner’s risk.
Wristbands
You will be given a conference wristband when you register. Your wristband gains you access to workshops, speaker sessions, the party and accommodation (if you’ve booked) so please wear it at all times! Under 18s will have different colour to identify them to bar staff.
