Since 2008 hunger has skyrocketed, and currently 1 in 6 people are going hungry. This workshop will explore the role that biofuels play in producing and exacerbating this hunger crisis and how the scramble for biofuels has led to corporate land grabbing and undermined women’s rights. The workshop will discuss what activists can do to stem the flow of biofuels and protect the right to food.

However, more importantly we hope to address the concern that Copenhagen will be a ‘Make Poverty History moment’ and open up discussion for ideas and actions for post Copenhagen.

We will discuss the concept of people making positive change happen in different ways – do women have the answers to creating a fairer, cleaner world? How we can empower women to stand up and use their political power?
