This session was a celebration of the first year of our Going Greener campaign, highlighting the innovative low-carbon projects students have set up at universities across the UK. Our celebrity guest Alys Fowler helped us present the first-ever Going Greener Awards 2010.

Students explored the role of food in achieving a fair & fast low-carbon transition with our panel of experts.

Helen Rimmer - Helen Rimmer, Food Campaigner at Friends of the Earth, currently campaigning to stop deforestation in South America which is driven by UK livestock farming as rainforests are cleared for soy plantations to feed our factory farms.
Kelvin Cheung - founder and CEO of FoodCycle which brings together unwanted food, young volunteers and kitchen space to reduce waste and food poverty in the community.

Zero Carbon Britain 2030

zerocarbonbritain2030 is a positive, realistic vision for an energy progressive society free from fossil fuels. It provides political, economic and technological solutions to the urgent challenges raised by the climate science. The report explores the large infrastructural changes needed, as well as the synergies between sectors to create the first fully integrated solution to climate change.
This session involved a presentation of the key findings of the Zero Carbon Britain 2030 followed by a Q&A session. The Centre for Alternative Technology also announced a very special deal for People & Planet groups wishing to visit its beautiful centre in mid-Wales.

Go Green Week 2011
Rock your campus for Go Green Week 2011. This interactive workshop was a space to share ideas and help plan the biggest student climate action week ever. Students came up with loads of exciting suggestions for a unifying national action during Go Green Week - what will your group be doing 7 - 14 February 2011? Transition Vision - Get Creative!
What would a fair, post-oil, low-carbon society look like? We brought in a range of visual artists, using mixed media including film and paper sculpturing to help you create a piece of art to represent a positive vision for the future. The outcome will be a Transition Vision movie - showcasing student aspirations for an HE sector fit for the future.
