This section explains some of the basics you’ll need to think about to get and keep your group running well. Some of the topics are covered in more detail elsewhere, whilst for others the important thing is simply that you bear them in mind.
Case Study- St. Christophers School
The P&P group at St. Christophers School in Letchworth have been around and campaigning hard for over two years now! They’ve run a big campaign for Fairtrade status as well as doing talks on a range of global issues for the rest of the school. In Spring 2006 they booked a follow-up workshop on Climate Change themselves and have also made sure that a really good handover to the Year 12’s has taken place.
We think a good group should be:
- Active and catering for all kinds of people
- Inclusive and fun!
- Empowered and motivated
- Creative
- Organised and not stressed!
- In regular contact
- Strategic
- Democratic in structure
- Informed about the issues
- Sustainable in the long-term
