Truro P&P group Fairtrade Tasting Stall

A range of activities will keep more people involved and motivated.

Here are some ideas for a well-balanced group:

  • Run different types of campaigns, for example long-term as well as short term, social as well as environmental issues, local as well as global.

  • A mixture of high profile campaigns and low key lobbying is more satisfying.

  • Within campaigns, try a combination of education (raising awareness), action (making change or lobbying others) and resource-building (fundraising etc.)

  • Try and vary the way you hold actions, socials and meetings too - you’ll find some ideas for this in other sections.

  • Examples of different actions you could hold include running stalls, poster campaigns, letter-writing, lobbying and email actions.

Case Study- Hayesfield School

Hayesfield School P&P group in Bath have done a huge range of activities. They organised a Fairtrade Cafe Crawl around the town during Fairtrade Fortnight and invited another Sixth Form P&P group, two Uni P&P groups and the local Trade Justice group. They have undertaken fundraising activities such as a sponsored walk and cake sales, assemblies on deforestation, run a recycling scheme in school and trips to the city farm! This ensured there was something for everyone.
