Students enjoy the sunshine at South West Schools Action Day
Saturday 26 April saw the first ever sixth form regional event take place at Balcarras School, Cheltenham. Students from three schools across the region and staff from the P&P support office came together for a day of campaign planning, skills training, discussions, chocolate and football.
The day started in traditional P&P fashion with an amazing ice-breaker involving ‘dodging bombs’, before looking at how students can work together to best plan their campaigns. The group also got some hands-on experience of lobbying their headteacher (with Outreach Officer Jamie Clarke playing the tough guy role) and talked about current issues such as the Beijing Olympics and whether nuclear power was the answer to climate change.
The weather was great so students could sit and talk outside. It was a great success so we’re planning to run another one later this year - keep your eyes peeled for announcements in the e-active email or on the website!
