UCLAN Redress Fashion Show

The event raised an amazing £500, with £300 donated to P&P. Thanks UCLAN! UCLAN student Helen Penistone tells us about the event.

We organised a redress fashion show event in our students union with the aim of increasing awareness about the problem and to fundraise! The night involved a catwalk of outfits based on the elements earth, wind, fire and water.

These were modelled by various volunteers, including some girls from the dance club, who also did some excellent dances throughout the evening. Also, there were acoustic acts, a talk from a member of Lancaster P&P and a quick talk by our Mayor, who used to work at the uni. We had a stall from oxfam and a Fairtrade stall with some goodies on running throughout the night.

To fundraise we sold tickets for the event, did a raffle for lots of prizes including one of the new Fairtrade UCLAN hoodies and auctioned off the catwalk outfits.

It took lots of time to organise but was lots of fun and earnt us the prize of best event by a society from the student involvement and development centre.

UCLAN gave £300 of the money they raised to People & Planet. Thanks guys! They kept £200 to fund their own campaigning activities at uni.
