This year Students Unions will be covering costs of Summer Gathering tickets making the Summer Gathering, more affordable for all. Here’s all the info you’ll need to know about booking your place!
How much will it cost?
Not much at all!
£100/person. This Includes: all workshops, 4 nights accommodation (camping or dormitories), 3 delicious meals a day, proper toilets and hot showers! What more could you ask for?
How do I go about getting the payment from my SU?
It’s threeasy!
- Just sign in to the P&P website and fill out your details on the Summer Gathering booking page and submit. (Selecting your payment option as ‘send me an SU invoice’ will generate an email sending you both an invoice that you can give to your SU and a letter explaining all about the Summer Gathering training).
- Take/email invoice and letter to your SU and ask for payment
- Sit back, relax and get ready for the Summer Gathering whilst your SU post the payment to P&P.
But what about Ultra Vires?
No worries!
Ultra Vires is designed to prevent money from charitable accounts being spent on things unrelated to the charity purpose. As your SU has inherited charitable status from the university, grant money you receive from them will come from a charitable account, and is not supposed to be donated to external organisations.
You CAN, however, use the money to go to an event that is beneficial or of interest to students and their development (as this is the charitable purpose).
Summer Gathering is a unique training opportunity for students offering a four-day residential course of workshops, speakers and dynamic student interaction. Any payments by your Student Union will go towards covering the costs of the excellent training which will help you to develop existing skills, learn new ones, give you confidence in using them and provide the chance for you to network with other young people from across the UK.

What if my Student Union cannot pay, will I miss out on SG 2009?
Absolutely not!
If there’s one thing that People & Planet believe in then it’s equal opportunities (along with a few other things.. tackling climate change, championing social justice and human rights and challenging corporate power).
For those of you who cannot get payment from your SU then P&P are offering a concessionary rate of £65/person.
How do I claim for the concessionary rate?
Don’t worry, it’s threeasy too:
- Sign in to the P&P website and fill out your details on the Summer Gathering booking page and submit. (Be sure to choose the concessionary rate payment option - this will take you to a secure page where you can enter payment details).
- Receive e-confirmation from P&P
- Sit back, relax and get ready for the Summer Gathering
