World Cup Sweepstakes

Crowd watching a soccer match

Football- a useful distraction from the reality of our corrupt, dying world

Sports Sweepstakes

Set up a sweepstake for any sporting event, it could even be your inter-collegiate rugby tournment.

  • Get your system sorted - Like any manager worth his salt you should have your tactics worked out well in advance. Figure out how many players you’re involving, and how much they are going to pay. For the World Cup 2006 we did it in the Support Office with 16 players each paying £2, but if you can get 32 people paying £2 all the better.
  • Figure out the cash - Decide on how much you want to give away as a prize and how much you’re going to donate to P&P
  • Advertise - Get all your mates to sign up, and if you’re short of a few people then stick a poster up next to the TV in your college before the match
  • Make the draw - Decide on a time, place, and system and assign all the players their teams. Perhaps collect people’s email addresses so you can let them know who they should be cheering for.
  • Let the games commence - Investigate your team, learn the player’s names, fashion yourself a version of their national dress. Scream when you score, cry when you loose.
  • Email the fundraising team - to let us know what you’re doing so we can publicise it on our website
