Becycle is a community bike lending scheme in Aberdeen. They gather orphaned bikes, fix them up and bring them back to life. They also run a community-based workshop which is not only home to the bikes they lend out for free, but also offers tools, spare parts and competent help to anyone coming down the road keen on fixing or building their own bike, helping out with the project or just looking for a place to make urban bike culture happen.

Here’s what Becycle offers:.

  • a completely free workshop
  • tools & working stands. spare parts (used and some new).
  • knowledgeable folks .
  • a knowledge base (Web, books, manuals).
  • access to Aberdeen’s cycling community.
  • bike events and bike rides.
  • free bicycle lending

If you would like to set up a similar project please get in touch with Becycle and they will be happy to guide you through  the process. info@becyle.org.uk
