Timbuktu University People & Planet Group - Constitution
1) Name: The name of the Society shall be “The Timbuktu University People & Planet Group”.
2) Aim: The Society’s aim shall be “To campaign and raise awareness on world poverty, human rights and the environment.”
3) Affiliation: The society shall be affiliated to
- Timbuktu University Students’ Union
- People & Planet, 51 Union St, Oxford, OX4 1JP
4) Membership
- Membership of the Society shall be extended to all members of the University.
- There shall be no fee for membership.
- The Society shall not refuse an application for membership on the grounds of race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, or political views.
5) Meetings
- Ordinary Meetings shall be held weekly during term time.
- The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Society shall be held each year at the end of the second term. The time and venue of this meeting will be determined and publicised by the Committee at least fourteen days beforehand.
- Decisions in meetings shall be taken using a participatory decision making method.
6) Committee
- The Committee shall be chosen at the AGM, using a participatory decision making method where possible.
- Any member of the Society may stand for any Committee post.
- The Committee shall consist of: President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
7) Amendments
- Amendments to this Constitution may be proposed by any six members of the Society, and must be submitted to the Secretary in writing.
- This Constitution may only be amended at an AGM, or a meeting specially called for that purpose, by consensus.
8) Dissolution
- On dissolution, all assets of the Society shall be paid to People & Planet, 51 Union St, Oxford, OX4 1JP.
